- Head to the Edward Ball Dining Room for the lodge’s signature all-you-can-eat fried shrimp, a Friday favorite
- After dining, when entering the lobby, look up at the hand-painted ceiling that tells stories of nature, culture, and Florida history in intricate brushstrokes
- Ask a staff member about the symbolism or try to spot birds, boats, or mythological figures on your own. A book is available for guests to read the stories and history behind it.
After Dinner
- Enjoy a peaceful evening stroll or cozy up by the fireplace in the lobby
- Rest easy to the sounds of frogs and owls just beyond your window

Day 2 – Saturday: Trails, Cocktails, and Classic Films
Morning
- Start your day with breakfast in the Edward Ball Dining Room, featuring warm biscuits, Southern staples, and fresh coffee
- Rent a bike from the lodge or bring your own to explore the extensive trail system throughout the park (trail map)
Midday: Picnic Ride and Wildlife Watching
- Grab lunch to-go from the Soda Fountain (open until 6 PM): sandwiches, chips, and maybe a scoop of ice cream before you set off
- Ride the looping trails through the forest and wetlands, watching for:
- Owls
- Woodpeckers and herons
- Deer
- Gators sunning themselves along the edges of the spring run
- Optional stop at the nature boardwalk for birdwatching or quiet contemplation
Afternoon Return to the Lodge
- Unwind and refresh before an early evening drink

Day 3 – Sunday: Fog and Farewell

- Wake early to catch the fog rising off the spring, one of the most peaceful and hauntingly beautiful moments at the lodge
- Bring a blanket or coffee to the waterfront and watch the wildlife stir to life, including manatees, herons, cormorants, and egrets moving through the mist
First Boat Tour of the Day
- Hop on the first guided river boat tour around 9:40 AM
- It’s the quietest and most serene time to spot wildlife and enjoy the full clarity of the spring run
11:00 AM: Early Lunch Before You Hit the Road
- Grab a light early lunch in the dining room or pack something to-go from the Soda Fountain
- Say goodbye to the lodge, refreshed and recharged
